Description of Submission:  "An original satrical song, written from the perspective of a queerphobic person who is shaken not at the loss of human life, but at the "grotesque" notion that gender and sexuality are fluid and we are all essentially the same."

Why Karen and Melody Liked It:
We loved the song and the unique way Stephan chose to get his message across.  You start out thinking this is an anti-gay song and realize its message is totally different.  The song was catchy and also relevant in today's political climate.

Guts Lyrics

When I was walking home from the store,
Carrying my plastic grocery bags,
I saw some stupid fag get hit
By a car; oh, what fools they all are.

Still... I wondered for a second, at the moment of impact,
From afar, could I really know the gender for a fact?

I left my groceries there on the sidewalk,
Ran to the crosswalk where
it was lying...

And choking back vomit I gazed at the carcass,
And I reeled as the sky and the pavement, they blended;

The world around me fell away,
And the sight I saw was sickeningly gray:

It was hard to determine the sex
Just by looking at the guts -
Couldn't tell whether or not, not at all -
Apparently we all look the same on the inside.
Who would've thought?
Well, I blinked several times and took a deep breath, and
Since there wasn't anything I could do,
I retrieved my plastic bags from the sidewalk,
And I told myself everything would be fine, and
I walked home calmly, truly thankful
That my frozen foods would make it home in time.
