Poem

“Together One Day”

Desciption of Submission: None

Under the starry sky, he softly caresses his lover’s face.
While they cuddle, they wonder where in the world is their place.
They are filled with imperishable love that yearns to be known
But it is locked deep down inside, as they feel all alone.
You make them ashamed, like they have done wrong
But they cannot help it; their love is too strong.
It is the warm, butterfly feeling that keeps them as one
Though you insist on fighting it until their love is done.
And every night there are softly spoken words they say
To help them stay hopeful of being together one day.
But still so many nights they have cried themselves to sleep.
No one approving of them with the words that cut them deep.

Often they wish for that deep sleep dreaming

That is where their love’s candlelight can be beaming.
No bonds in the world can hold them from each other.
They would give anything to be with one another.
You are doing all you can to decide the matters of the heart.
You will do anything in your power to keep those two apart.
You forget that we are all Gods children, sent from up above.
So why is it your business whom they chose to love?
What makes them any less of a citizen if they feel that way?
Yet they cannot have the sanctity of marriage just because they are gay.
