|
Description of Submission: “A poem about accepting those who cannot accept you.” - M
Why Karen and Melody Liked It: We liked the way she used the colors of the rainbow to symbolically slam those who will not recognize GLBT people or their love.

Love for Catholicism (And All Similar Minded Peoples)
My love burns red, Bursting, renewing as a Phoenix, Like yours.
And like yours, My sunsets glow orange in the horizon, Steeped in the glory of romance.
I too, Will tie a yellow ribbon ‘round my heart, To wait for my love, the way we work for our lives.
Don’t you, Blossom, under love? Growing and flourishing green in the crystal cathedral of caring and affection.
And the clear blue waters upon which I gaze -in your lakes, your streams, your reservoirs- I know they flow for you the same.
And I know, I know, the purple majesty, the heritage That makes us alike.
And I know that despite all this You will continue to do things that aren’t right. I know I love you, the way You hate me I know I love man, the way I love woman I know I love woman, the way I love man I know I accept you, as you would Spurn me.
And though, with few rights, I seem At a disadvantage I hold you in my heart my brother my sister My in-between My arms are opened to you in acceptance
And if you ever find need of help from me, All of my guidance you will receive
I hold no resentment I will not discriminate I understand your plight, your disease, Of hate.
Ever sharp your tongue Ever bold my pen will be
I love you, I know, You too, Will love me.
