How are Works Judged
The KarMel Scholarship, created in 2003, encourages students to write/create something that will express their views on the gay/lesbian/bi/transgender topic.  It is designed to challenge students to create something unique, and to showcase the many talented artisans/writers.  The scholarship is also intended to support the goals of students seeking a higher education.

The KarMel Scholarship was created by
Karen and Melody, a lesbian couple.  The name "KarMel" comes from combining Karen and Melody's names ("Kar" from Karen and "Mel" from Melody).
The KarMel Scholarship committe consists of Melody and Karen.
Funds for the scholarship awards are primarily provided by Melody and Karen.  Additional awards may be sponsored by contributions from supporters of the KarMel Scholarship, as well as Melody and Karen.
